Very easy to use website. The chat facility is excellent

Some questions I forgot to ask.
1. Do I need to do anything with BT to cancel their phone line?
2. I get my youview with Sky at the moment. Do I need to do anything with them, or do you contact them too?
3. I was persuaded to come to TalkTalk by a friend. Is there a 'recommend a friend' reward scheme running at the moment? (she is Heather Ormston 01780 767108)

Very simple sign up. Not enough information about the up front costs.

Having compered this deal it looks by far the cheapest around. The sign up was very simple and straight forward. The one let down was the lack of information about up front costs untill after the credit checks were compleated. I would have prefered to have all the fact right at the begining rather than a shock half way through.

friendly service and clear information

I have just purchased the essentials package with the help of Caine Alvey. He provided all the information I needed, answered questions some possibly not often asked, gave advice and was generally very pleasant to talk to. There was no element of hard selling.
I contacted talk talk due to a leaflet received in the post which was simple but had all the information needed. In comparison to virgin medias book which had far too much information which was off putting hence my decision to use talk talk as my provider

Biggest mistake of my life!!

I stupidly signed up to Talktalk & a bt telephone engineer installed my new phone line at the bottom of my stairs even though I said I wanted it in the living room, he refused - he clearly couldn't be bothered. When I plugged in my router I had to use an extension cable to fit in the plug for my phone & the plug for my router. So I now have a massive tripping & fire hazard at the bottom of my stairs. When I phoned up Talktalk to complain about this, I was told that if the engineer put it there then that is where it should stay! So I complained to the Ombudsman about this - still waiting on a reply. Then my Talktalk TV box arrived & to my horror, I realised that the TV must be plugged into my router - which is in the hall at the bottom of my stairs! This doesn't make sense! Am
I supposed to drag my TV into the hall & watch it there! I was then on the phone to Talktalk for an hour trying to get this resolved. Apparently I could just run extension cables into the living room. So my house is to become an even bigger danger. Eventually they agreed to move my phone line, I had to stay on the phone as they filled out the form for this request - apparently I have nothing better to do with my time. I was told that an engineer would phone within 48hrs to arrange a date - that was 3 days ago. So again, I phoned Talktalk this morning,only to be told that they didn't have an update of this on my account! I was then told that it was passed to a manager & someone would phone today. I don't believe they will phone. I am sitting with no TV - even though I am paying for it. I have a fire & tripping hazard on my stairs & when I asked to cancel, I was told that I would have to pay cancellation charges! This is ridiculous - this is all their fault. They then had the cheek to phone me about taking out a Talktalk mobile phone! Trying to complain to Talktalk gets me nowhere - there online help is just trouble shooting & phoning gets me nowhere. I plan to write to Talktalk & give them bad reviews where possible.

Signing Up - Pretty Good

Process was a significantly less traumatic experience than signing up for some on-line retailers! The application was logical and the background operation worked in real time despite the failings of my current provider.

FIBRE NOT AS IT SHOULD WITH TALK TALK

Im writing in reguards to talktalk do not go with them for broadband and calls I was quoted 24meg before order for fibre got the I get no where near and I wouldn't class 20meg as fibre but by the talktalk muppets anything over 12meg is fibre . I think there is a problem somewhere down the line but they refuse to look into it as usual and . im 0.2m away from exchange and most people round my area get 30 odd meg how come my line can only get up to 20meg so fibre suppose to be 4 times faster where at in my eyes . ive told them they get adsl prices for my fibre as its a crock of shit . I WOULD GIVE NO STARS IF I COULD because they never do nothing right

Simple and easy

From the outset i found the process of conecting to TalkTalk very straightforward. The person dealing with my ordder explained everything in simplistic terms--even a man could understand !!

So bad customer service

I seen online they are giving free installation charge but customer service people are charging £50 then there taking of our voucher £25 as well don't call the cutomer service go and do it online whatever you need this my

Customer care is great 'til you have a problem

Having been a Talktalk customer for a few years I was told for no extra cost I could have the TV package, I agreed to accept it and that is where I made my mistake! My broadband had worked fine until the TV went live, My speed almost halved my telly buffered and was unwatchable, I then attempted to report it. After ages on the report and repair customer service web page and a number of long phone calls they decided to send an engineer out. I was told the engineer would arrive between 3pm and 6pm, I came home early from work and no engineer arrived, My next bill had a £50 charge for a missed engineer appointment, I phoned and told them no engineer had been they insisted one had and described my front door to me and insisted I had missed the appointment and would have to pay the £50, I told the agent to cancel my package altogether and I would go with another company! I was transferred to a different department and eventually my engineer charge was cancelled and my speed was increased to 5,2mbps, Happy again I remained a customer. A few weeks later my speed was back down to 3,2mbps the tv buffered and the internet was slow, I again got in touch with the report and repair site and went through the same procedure as the first time. The same questions and tests had to be carried out again and eventually after over an hour on the phone I was given another engineers appointment between 3pm and 6pm. My wife was at home that day and the engineer arrived at 2pm he told us they do not get told specific times and even though I had told the talktalk agent I would not be in 'til after 3;30pm as I had lost time at work for the last appointment still the engineer arrived earlier than booked. No wonder I missed him the first time! He came in tested the system reconfigured my router and left my speed is now 6,2+mbps. Good service or what? Do not believe what the agents tell you and if you get an engineers appointment make sure you are at home all day or they will charge £50 for a missed appointment even though you have been given a time slot ignore it,
