Went into Currys Cheltenham yesterday to purchase a Fridge Freezer and Washing Machine we had seen on there website (totaling about £800). Spoke to a sales assistant to see if he could give us a discount for purchasing two items together. To be honest I wasn't expecting to get a discount, but it's always worth checking. You never know do you unless you ask. Well we just got a very blunt NO from the sales assistant. No explanation, or anything. So I ask why that was. He then told me in no fewer words that Currys isn't in the business for giving free handouts and that was why Currys was the only electrical store left. "You want discounts, go somewhere else". His whole body language suggested he was looking for a fight rather than trying to sell us electrical equipment. He went on to tell us how he had sold £3000 worth of items to a recent customer but had only let him get £30 off the whole lot. He said this in almost macho way as if he were meant to applaud him or something. I'm not a sales person but even I know that's not a good sales tactic! With that we walked away and started towards the door. Another sales assistant stopped us to ask if he could help us today. We said no thanks and explained why. The rude sales assistant walked over to us and loudly told his assistant that he wasn't to give us any discounts. "NO DISCOUNTS" he emphasised several times and scowled at us. His assistant looked flabbergasted as did the other customers nearby. I calmly told him he was a very rude individual who seriously needs some sales training. He didn't seem bothered and just stomped off. To cut a long story short, we decided to look online to see if we could purchase the same items from a different company. We ended up buying a better spec fridge freezer and washing machine from ao.com for less money and they automatically gave us £20 off for purchasing more than one item. Oh and it included free delivery. So the moral of the story avoid Currys at all costs and shop online. You’ll get a better deal and won’t have to put up with rude, obnoxious sales people.
I was going to buy a tv the other day however the only one available was the one on display. I was advised I could buy it after the salesman rooted around and configured a used remote to go with it and offered to bubble wrap it to avoid him having to remove the stand as it was unlikely to fit back into a box anyway. All going good until he asked his manager if any money could be taken off as it was quite clearly ex display and for my own reasons I needed to purchase it that day. The manager said no it was an in demand item and as such did not merit a discount. So to summarise customer in place ready to buy, manager in place with discretion to negotiate discount (said customer would have been happy with a tenner off as a goodwill gesture) Manager clearly has no idea how to ensure return custom therefore said customer went to another shop and not only bought a tv I also purchased a soundbar Any suggestions as to why Currys neither want or need my money would be interesting to hear. To conclude if I at any time in the future want to purchase an "in demand item" it sure as hell will not be from Currys
I had the misfortune to visit Curry’s in Hedge End, Southampton with the idea of buying a new television. The TV that I had decided to buy was a Sony 46” LED model priced at £1199 but noticed that Richer Sounds in Southampton were offering the same set £100 cheaper with free 5 year guarantee. I phoned Richer Sounds only to discover they didn't have stock in Southampton but had 3 in Bournemouth. Curry’s claim they won’t be beaten on price and will match any comparable deal and also reduce the cost by 10% of the difference. OK, this is even better and although Curry’s only offered 1 year warranty it would still be a good deal at £10 cheaper than Richer Sounds. Off I trot over to Curry’s in Hedge End to buy my new telly. So far so good, they have the telly in stock and then I present the salesman with the price, stock availability and phone number of Richer Sounds. The salesman goes away to have a word with the duty manager and returns with the news “the manager won’t price match because Richer Sounds, Southampton do not have stock and the Bournemouth store is more than 30 miles away”. Distance to the Bournemouth store is 35 Miles! Now, if I'm going to save £110 it would be worth the trip and buy it from there. I asked the salesman to check stock levels and he confirmed they had stock. He also gave me a phone number so that I could confirm if they would price match before setting off. From the car I called the number only to find it was a customer service line – it turns out you cannot phone the store direct. After sitting in my car listening to the phone ringing for ages eventually a young lady answered. It went something like this – Curry’s “Good morning my names is (gives name), how can I help?” Me “Hi, can you please check stock availability on a TV for me?” Curry’s “I’m sorry my computer is down, I will transfer you to a colleague” Phone rings again for ages and finally somebody answers. Curry’s “Good morning my names is (gives name), how can I help?” It’s the same lady I was talking to earlier!! Me “I don’t believe this, you transferred back to yourself!” Curry’s “I’m terribly sorry I will try and help, what store do you want to check?” Me “Bournemouth” Curry’s “What’s the product code of the item you want me to check?” Me “I don’t know, I only have the television model number” Curry’s “OK, let me have that” I give her all the details of the TV I’m looking for and she replies “Yes, they do have stock of that model” Me “Can you tell me if they price match?” Curry’s “Yes” I give her all the information from Richer Sounds offer. Curry’s “No, we will only match like for like deals” Me “But it is the same set and spec” What she said to me next was unbelievable! Curry’s “Richer Sounds are offering free 5 year guarantee and ours is only one” Me “Are you telling me that because they offer a better guarantee it’s a different offer?” Curry’s “Yes” Me “Why then, should I buy it from you? I may as well go to Richer Sounds!” Curry’s “Well I Would” At this point I gave up and eventually bought it from John Lewis who was only too pleased to price match, also offered a 5 year guarantee and delivered for free.
Ordered a Rangemaster cooker from Currys which was to be installed last week. A problem with the mains plug meant that they were unable to connect it so a revisit was scheduled for one week later. Different crew this time who refused to carry the item in as there was a slope, the same slope that the previous weeks team were more than happy to carry the item over and the same slope that Currys used to deliver the existing cooker. Another day off taken
We brought Fridge Freezer from Currys. Few weeks later the fridge started having problems. It was not cooling and heating up. we called curry's and engineer came out after 5 minutes he left. He said that it was just build up of ice. He left and then straight away the problem started again. same engineer came again fiddled with the fridge and said it should be sorted. Couple of hours later the same problem persisted. we called currys again and then they sent out the same guy. This time he ordered a part which still hasn't turned up. Currys are insisting they wont write off the fridge even though this saga has been going on for over a month. When we call the customer service we get same story that they can't do anything. Very disappointed with currys products and customer services. I would avoid these people at all costs..... Don't buy anything from them.
In 2011 I encountered a number of problems with a TV and DVD player I bought and vowed never to buy from them again. However I was swayed by a good offer on a laptop and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. After reserving a laptop online and getting email confirmation of the price went to collect it the following day. They reported they didn't know where that price had come from. They also said the laptop had been set up by them so I would have to pay £45 for this. I explained I had not asked for this or been informed of this when I reserved it and would easily set up the laptop myself. I was told I would either have to pay it as it was the last laptop or I couldn't have it. After complaining they said they would knock £20 off but they didn't seem to understand that they were trying to make me pay for something they had done that I hadn't requested. I ended up not getting the laptop and they seemed perfectly ok that they had lost a £538 sale. Please be aware of this if you reserve a laptop and don't want it setting up as they will probably have already done it and charged you for the privilege!
Their "customer service" is a complete joke. Ordered a cooker and paid extra for 2 day delivery. Waited in all day, no delivery. At 16.00 the driver called to say "the van broke down, i'll get back to you". No follow up call. By chance they turned up today and delivered the cooker. No phone call to advise of this, just lucky someone was in. However the cooker had slight damage and could not be installed. Someone would have to come back to install. So it has taken 3 attempts to delivery and install a cooker. How do Curry's survive? The take your money and they really do not care for you as a customer. I feel that I am the last thing they care about. Talk about take the money and run. I had not used Currys in 5 years, due to poor customer service that I received at the time. Nothing has changed though. Unfortunately they seem to have the market to themselves now that Comet has left the high street. This level of service will catch them out eventually. Look at the arrogance of Tesco's and how they have fallen from grace.Maybe the merger with Carphone Warehouse will improve things. They could not possibly get any worse.
I purchased a Samsung camera at the end of July 2013. Only used it once. The second time I used it was early January 2014 less than 6 months old and the lens would not zoom and the shutter would not close. I took it back to the Bluewater store where it was purchased on Monday 13th Jan. I asked if I could borrow a camera or get like for like replacement as I was going on holiday, but was told NO because I hadn't taken out their Know How Insurance!!!! When I bought the camera I was asked if I wanted this extra £20 insurance.......I asked if I needed it and the guy said no not really you have a 1 year warranty with it anyway! He didn't tell me I would get a replacement if it broke!!! Misundersold!!!!! I was told the camera would be sent to Samsung the next day and it would take two weeks to repair. Great I go away in two weeks and three days. Or so I thought. I contacted them two weeks later to be told it only got sent a week AFTER I took it in!! I had to borrow a friends camera to take away. Three weeks holiday done, no phone call on my return to say it was done. I contacted them and was told I had been called on 19th Feb but I had no message!!!!! Yet another lie. I finally got a call on 24th Feb. On 25th I went to collect it. On returning home and hoping to look at and upload my pictures I discover that my battery and hand strap was missing!!!! GRRRR!!!!! I called the store and was told its normal practice to lock away the straps and batteries before they send them off for repair. If this is such NORMAL PRACTICE, why wasn't I given them when I collected it???? Ok so can you courier them to me please, I asked, as I have organised a presentation. No sorry we only have second class stamps out the back!!!! Oh please!!!!!!!!!!! What a load of crap! I've been lied to about insurances, times for repair, telephone calls, dates for collection, then not given all of my camera back and told it will be shoved in second class post. I can't believe the appalling customer service. Ten minutes later I get a call from the local store saying customer services called them regarding my complaint!!! It wasn't even the local store. She was lovely and totally astonished at the way BLUEWATER had treated us.
I bought a laptop mid December 2013. On setting it up (straight from the box), a problem developed with some of the keys, however it rectified itself by the time set up was complete. All was OK until 2 weeks ago when the problem returned this time permanently. Curry's sent it to their repair centre only to tell me they will not repair it because there was evidence of a spillage (now dried), on the motherboard. I categorically dispute this, there has been no spillage at all since I purchased it, not forgetting the problem first happened straight from the box. Therefore if the spillage evidence is irrefutable then it must have occurred during manufacture, packing or indeed in Curry's store whilst awaiting collection for repair (3 days). It amazes me that the attention you receive when purchasing products totally disappears at after sales service. All in all totally disgraceful, I'm accused of lying and Curry's don't give a jot now they have my money. Never never again will I use Curry's PC World, they deserve to go out of business. One VERY P*SSED OFF EX Customer
Currys delivery is appalling. They tell you they'll ring before arriving. Out of 3 occasions they didn't manage it once. THen they delivered the wrong cooker. So i had to arrange yet another 4 hour delivery window to exchange for the correct cooker and pay the lettings agent to wait in for it. I'm trying to get reimbursement for this from Currys but the people responding to my emails do not appear to have the ability to read and comprehend and they never address the point. They give a standard response which is totally irrelevant. My advice - but from anywhere else even if costs a bit more - you will regret buying from Currys.
I bought a laptop from Currys today. Couldnt believe the way I was treated. I decided to buy on finance, so I asked about the options and figures. Was horrified to find out that they tried to sell me a £400 laptop for 1100 over 3 years!! I said that sounds alot for a £400 laptop, and she told me that that includes all sorts of services and peace of mind.
I felt really annoyed that I was treated like a dumb animal that prob wont notice the additional services and insurences she tried to sell. The thing was she didnt even tell me about the services, just that this is what the laptop costs. After telling her I just want a price for the laptop I got the proper figure. Yet I had to fight for her to tell me this.
After struggling to get the proper price quoted she then told me if i have any problems I can call them for free for month and they will help me set up and all, as if she was being nice. She again failed to tell me she was trying to sign me up to another warrenty service for £7 a month.
If you are buying from curries sometimes you can get a good price but then have to fight to get it with incentive fueled sales staff.
I bought a Samsung Tumble Dryer Online. Never ever again. The Dryer arrived but was faulty when switched on. OK this sort of thing can happen but so far I have spent all day trying to get a response from there customer support. They have a returns procedure printed on their website but when you actually try to follow it you fall at the second step.
To arrange a return/repair online, please follow these directions: 1. Sign in on Currys.co.uk to access your account area. - OK. 2. Select the link in the menu to ask a question. - DOES NOT EXIST.
You can always spend a few hours on the phone (which you pay for) listening to recorded rubbish. I was eventually connected to Samsung who did arrange for a third party company to contact me to arrange for my brand new Tumble Dryer to be repaired. When I told them I wasn't interested in a repair and I wanted a brand new working item. I was told that I needed to get in touch with CURRYS!
I will never, ever use CURRYS again. Worst experience ever. I am however determined to return the item. Next step is to use my credit card warranty!
I ordered a American Zanussi Fridge/Freezer from Curry’s, in January 2013. We paid some £900 and 9 months latter it went wrong while we on a week holiday. We had some £400 food damage and the Kitchen Carpet . they did repaired the Fridge Freezer .BIG BUT I have been complained to Curry’s and going to the shop one a week , trying to get some compensation as they only paid only £50.00 Tesco Voucher. I have e-mailed, photo copy , seen some one in the shop one a week, seen the manager who was useful as a chocolate teapot. Even now some 5 Months latter nothing has been done as same old story as we doing something. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER BUY ANY THING FROM CURRYS
Short and simple. We recently bought a cooker from Currys and were charged £100 for installation. The electrician!!!! fitted the wire in front of the wall straight to the socket, instead of pushing the wire through the hole in the wall already there leading to the socket, so the wire wasn't exposed, after doing this he turned round and said " you will have to get a proper qualified electrician out to fit this properly". So that cost me another £35.00. Don't get it, if Currys offer the installation service by their so called QUALIFIED ELECTRICIANS then they should be QUALIFIED, I have heard nothing from back form Currys at all even though I have sent 2 letters and made 2 phone calls, with them saying we will get someone to call you. I am totally disgusted with their attitude and will never buy anything from there again. RIP OF MERCHANTS
We ordered a fridge from curry,s and it was delivered in November 2013. After the delivery drivers left we noticed they had knocked over one of the gate posts and damaged mail box. We can no longer keep our dogs in and our grandchildren safe from the road. We notified Currys the same day. To this date we still have don't received the cost of repair, having sent in quotes and photos as requested!!!!! Curry,s state it is up to us to chase with transport team?...... Our contract is with Curry,s as this is who we bought fridge from. It is up to them to sort out our claim. We are DISGUSTED with lack of customer service, we phone nearly everyday to be passed backwards and forwards. If I ran my business in this manner it would not last long. Curry's please sort!
I recently bought a double oven from Currys in Cambridge and paid £85 for installation only to find when it was delivered that it could not be done as a switch was located more than 2 metres away . They said I would need to get a qualified electrician as they were not qualified to install it. Why was this not pointed out to us when we bought the oven as we were told this is a common problem. We now have to wait another 3 weeks on top of the 3 weeks we have already waited to have an electrician come to finish the job. I am now worse off because before they took the old oven away as part of the package we could use the top half of the double oven, now I have to use a 'lean mean' and a microwave until the electrician can come If I had know this I could have booked him the next day. To add insult to injury I had to go back to the shop to get a refund of my £85 and was served by a very rude man who told me 'its not my problem' and threatened to have me removed by security because he said I was shouting at him. I am very disappointed in Currys customer service and I think some of the staff should have further training in customer relations. Even if it isn't 'their problem' you don't tell a customer that even if you think it. Or threaten to get them removed.I didn't get a sorry, please or a thank you and thats' just not good enough. We have always gone to Currys for all our white goods, TVs Hi Fi ect but when we need something in the future I will have to think very seriously about where I shop in the future.
Wed 18th Dec 2013 around 2pm ordered bose headphones for Christmas present for my husband for him to use on flight to Australia on Sunday 22nd Dec 2013. I had ordered them with Currys because PC World could not deliver them early enough whereas on the Currys website I could choose to have them delivered for collecting from the store 5pm thurs 19th. Wed 18th Dec 2013 around 2pm email confirming order but also confirming order would not be delivered until Monday 23rd Dec 2013, too late for our flight. Wed 18th Dec 2013 around 1 min past 2pm Telephoned help number and was told order would be cancelled and a credit made back to my account. I purchased Bose headphones from the Apple store. Fri 20th Dec 2013 noticed money not credited back, wrote to knowhow asking for confirmation that order cancelled and advising them I was out of country from Sunday. Fri 20th Dec 2013 received email confirming it was too late to cancel order. Telephoned no. Given and spoke to ‘Steve’ who said it was too late to cancel the order (even though I phoned 1 min after online order made) and that the person I spoke to hadn’t done everything he should have done to cancel order. I explained I was out of country from 22nd Dec for a month and wouldn’t be able to return headphones but that I wanted the money back in my account. Steve promised me he would phone the appropriate store on Monday and arrange for the headphones to be returned and that once returned (about 3 days) he would make sure my account was credited back. He didn’t. He also said if I didn’t collect them within 28 days they are returned to head office anyway and money credited back to my account, I want money back before then as I don’t want to incur credit card charges. Fri 20th Dec 2013 Email to say headphones instore ready for collection. Sat 21st Dec 2013 Eamil to say headphones instore ready for collection. Sun 22nd Dec We flew out to Australia. 11th Jan 2014 email from Currys to say if not collected in 7 days would return them to warehouse and credit my account back with money. 18th Jan 2014 email from Currys to say they have cancelled my order and money would be back in my account within 3 – 5 days. 27th Jan 2014 I wrote to Currys because money still not received and Im now paying interest on my credit card. 20th Feb 2014 Still no money credit back, also no reply to my letter. So far credit card interest added £6.82 (I always pay my outstanding balance off, but I refuse to pay the £149 owed to me.
Had a Hoover intergrated washing machine installed by two agency guys working for Know How. They did not install machine correctly. They broke the intergrated door to the machine. Broke the panel next to it and broke the kicker plate. Left packaging on landing that blew down eight floors. No dust sheets drills and tools left on glass hob. Manager does not answer my letters or emails We are now suing to get the job put right.
I paid for a Zanussi fridge freezer at my local Carmarthen store and waited two weeks for it's delivery, when it arrived it was damaged badly on the outer casing and upon further inspection was also damaged badly inside ,the glass shelf has smashed through the interior, I rang Curry's and they arranged for it to be collected and another sent out to replace it. I waited a further 3 days and along came another replacement, this time we inspected it thoroughly both inside and out before the delivery men left, all seemed ok. We waited the recommended 5 hours before switching it on,upon switching it on all seemed fine, the normal gurgling sounds could be heard, no cause for alarm,"great" we thought. But alas,on this occasion the freezer compartment was working but the fridge was not. What are the odds when ordering a brand new fridge freezer form the same company that not just one but TWO turn up faulty ? On top of all of this the first two delivery men due to their urgent need to get away as quickly as possible and rushing have damaged my expensive cushion floor in my kitchen so we have property damage and still NO fridge freezer. I would not touch this company with a barge pole in future , They would be doing customers a huge favour by going out of business sooner rather than later, they sell second rate goods and charge high prices for them ,their so called "sales" do not exist, they just play around with figures ,they are truly awful. PLEASE BUYER BEWARE.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
